ABOUT PAGET DENTURE CLINIC

The Paget Denture Clinic, opened in 1987, has been caring for people's denture needs for 20 years.

Founded by Kim Paget, the clinic has grown to be a favourite for Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes residents looking for quality dentures delivered with care and exceptional service. The clinic has been voted the Reader's Choice Best Denture Clinic by Peterborough Examiner readers for ten of the last eleven years.

KIm Paget was introduced to the science of making dentures by a local denturist in 1977.

She knew she had found her calling.

Ten years later in 1987, Kim graduated from the 3 year Denturism course at George Brown College , and was certified by the College of Denturists to practice Denturism.

With the help and encouragement of her parents, Kim opened a small 450 square foot clinic in the Charlotte Mews the year she graduated.

After 3 years of hard work and rubbing shoulders with her staff in that small office, Kim had grown the business to a point where a larger location was necessary.

It was during this busy start-up period that Kim met her future husband and lifelong partner, Wayne Paget.  Wayne, formerly a carpenter, was intrigued by Kim's profession. He was blessed with an intuitive natural ability with tools and materials. He decided to pursue a degree in Denturism, was certified, and joined the company in 1990.

Wayne and Kim restored a heritage building on Simcoe Street across from the city bus terminal in 1990. The building became a local landmark and focal point on the street, anchoring the Mews. Their renovation won a Chamber of Commerce Award of Excellence for best commercial restoration.

The next twelve years were busy ones for Wayne and Kim. They started a family and were blessed with the birth of 2 girls, Brooks in 1990 and Whtiney in 1991. Wayne and Kim continued to log long hours doing house calls and conducting denture seminars  and clinics at almost every retirement home in the city. Meeting clients face to face and word of mouth helped create a thriving practice.

By 2002, the clinic employed five full time staff members as well as several part-time employees.

Both Wayne and Kim have been active supporters and volunteers for their church, the children's Christian school and other community organizations. The Pagets were a pioneering sponser of the Festival of Lights.

In 2002, the clinic reached another milestone. It purchased and renovated the former Roy residence at 308 Rubidge Street to be the clinic's permanent home.

This tripled clinic space allowing the business to expand comfortably as the need for Denturism increased. With wheelchair access, parking for up to 26 vehicles, a state-of-the-art in-house laboratory and five treatment rooms, Paget Denture Clinic is recognized as one of the largest and best denture clinics in all Ontario.

Also in 2002, Paget Denture Clinic opened a satellite clinic  in association with other oral care professionals. Located in the Village Dental Centre in Lakefield Ontario, it serves clients who formerly had to travel long distances north of the city to receive care.

In 2005, Paget Denture Clinic received its second Chamber of Commerce Award of Excellence for best commercial restoration.

With the encouragement and tutoring of Wayne and Kim, Melissa Crough, a long term Paget employee, studied Denturism while continuing to work part-time at the clinic. She received her diploma and certification in 2004. Melissa joined the clinic as its third full-time denturist.

In 2006, Kim Paget was nominated for and received the honour of being named Business Woman of the Year. The award is co-presented by the Peterborough Women's Business Network and the Peterborough Examiner. The award is voted on and awarded by one's peers in the business community, so is particularly gratifying to receive.

The committment to quality and service which has made the Paget Denture Clinic a favourite with denture wearers, is found in their tagline, "We care about your smile."
